Sockliner Size Chart

Tips for selecting your best fit:
  • If you don’t have information about your most comfortable shoe size available, or don’t know whether you have wide feet, you can take a measurement of your foot length and foot width and that will provide very useful information to select your best fit.
  • If your shoe size, or measurement falls between sizes, go to the next size up.
  • If you have wide feet, go to the next size up
  • You can determine whether you have wide feet by the ratio of your foot width (measured horizontally at the widest point) to your foot length (measured from the back of your heel to the tip of your big toe). If this ratio (width divided by length) exceeds ≈ 0.37, then your feet are relatively wide for their length, compared to most people.
How to measure:
  • Your Shoe Size: most shoes have the shoe size noted on one of the inner sole; inner heel area; under the shoe tongue; or under the foot sole.
  • Your Foot Length: the longest part of the foot is measured from the tip of the big toe to the back of the heel
  • Your Foot Width: this is measured at the widest part of the foot, which is usually between the vicinity of the ball of the foot / base of the big toe, and the protrusion on the opposite side of the foot, behind the base of the small toe
The fit on our model:

For reference, our model has a 26.5cm / 10.5″ foot length (i.e. measuring between medium & large sized sockliners, but closer to medium) with a 10.02cm / 3.94″ foot width (with a ratio of width divided by length = 10.02/26.5 = 0.378. This places his foot toward the wide side compared to the average of most people). He usually wears US10 / UK9 / EU44 sized shoes, & prefers a wide fit. Size large (L) socks were worn in the photoshoot, with this size best suited all round to his shoe size, foot length, and slightly wider than average foot width.

Serigena™ Silk Sock liners – Long

When it comes to warming your feet, what can beat the thermal insulating effectiveness and comfort of our Serigena™ Over the Calf (OTC) – Silk Sock Liners – Long. Their over the calf – under the knee height provides increased leg coverage, extra warmth and comfort, making them the ideal cold temperature choice, with superior foot and lower leg warmth, enhanced circulation, and protection for sensitive skin. Wear these under your tall – casual, dress, work, compression, hiking, and snow skiing socks.

Low bulk warmth, temperature management, & moisture removal

Silk is considered a more effective weight for weight thermal insulator than any other natural or synthetic fiber, making it the ideal bulk free under sock layer.

We have used a blend of Natural Silk (65%), with Nylon (32%), & Spandex (3%) in our Silk Sock Liners – Long to achieve an optimal balance of warmth, temperature management, and moisture removal. The nylon component provides reinforcement to the sock structure, giving it increased resistance to the tearing and abrasion forces present in the shoe footbed. The spandex helps the sockliner retain its shape, and hold to the foot without bunching. The 65/35 blend is an ideal mix to balance comfort, stretch, air permeability, thermal conductivity, water repellency, and temperature control. It helps our Sock Liners perform at their best in a wide range of temperatures – when it is cold, and when you are warm; winter and summer.

Look after your feet

Friction caused by the harsh tearing and abrasion forces in the shoe footbed can cause blisters  –  bringing us to another reason why it makes a lot of sense to choose to wear our Silk Sock Liners – Long. Friction + moisture + heat = increased likelihood of blisters occurring. When we reduce friction, build up of moisture, and heat, we significantly reduce the likelihood of blistering occurring. Both Silk and nylon have a low coefficient of friction, making this combination very smooth and slippery compared to wool, acrylic, polyester, & cotton fiber commonly used in socks. This feature along with Silk’s wickability, moisture absorbency, very good water vapor permeability, and next to skin comfort, makes these Long Silk Sock Liners a ‘must have’ if you are going to be spending a lot of time walking. If your feet are exposed to cold temperatures all day long at the work-site, or you suffer with cold feet or chilblains, you will will love the insulating, absorbent, and wicking protective properties of these sockliners.

Silk’s combination of low air permeability and high water vapor permeability increases wearer comfort considerably in cold and windy conditions. Its insulating properties can help trap warmth close to the skin when its cold, and also mediate the temperature close to the skin when the sun comes out and ambient temperatures warm. This thermal quality combined with its bulk-less nature makes it the best choice for increasing the warmth under your socks.

Smooth on the skin

Silk has the remarkable quality of similarity of its protein profile with human skin, with its repetitive sequences of amino acids resembling that of human skin. The thread fibers of Silk are incredibly strong, consisting of filaments with a rounded shape, resulting in very smooth fibers that do not cause scratching, friction, or irritate the skin. The Silk yarn used in our fabric is known for its smooth texture, breathability, lustrous appearance, and strength. The remarkable strength of this long, medium-fine yarn helps our garments retain their shape over time. Our Silk fabric is smooth on the skin, and it helps maintain the optimum humidity of the body by minimizing both the circulation of perspiration, and moisture loss. Our Silk is natural, sustainable & skin friendly. These features make our Silk the perfect match for next to skin comfort and good health. Color – Black.
